WIPs and New Designs

I'm starting to think I've got too many things going...I tend to slow down on getting things done if I have too many things on the needles.  Oh well, such is the life of a knitter.

Current projects

I still haven't knit the 2nd sock of my Traveler's socks, or the Vellamo socks, but they will come soon I'm sure.. Hoping to finish them before the end of October.  I also started another plain vanilla pair and am about half way done with the first sock.  The yarn on those is a little thinner than my others so I'm using smaller needles and it seems like those are taking forever.

I am also working on the Geology shawl, on layer 3 (layer = section) which is the lace layer.  Also in progress (kinda) is the Sock Yarn blanket, haven't worked on it for a while, but it will be a long-term ongoing project.

I haven't been knitting much in the last 2 weeks or so since I started my new job, but hopefully will be able to get started again soon.

Over the weekend, my friend Pat of FiberEnthusiast Designs released her first pattern on Ravelry (and as of just before this post, she has now released a free pattern for a French Press Cozy! Both available in her Ravelry Store.  I helped her get her designer profile set up and get it published. We originally were going to offer it for free for a whole week, but soon realized that would probably result in the majority of Ravelry members having a free copy... We ended the promotion within 24 hrs of releasing the pattern and she had just shy of 1700 downloads.  I decided to offer my 2 paid patterns for free during this time as well and between the 2 patterns, I had 1160 downloads.  Needless to say, we were quite surprised!  Both of our patterns were in the top 5 of Hot Right Now patterns on Ravelry for a while and that was really cool to see.

Even though we ended the free promotion, I decided to continue with a 25% discount on both of my patterns until Midnight, Saturday October, 4. They can be purchased from my Ravelry store HERE.  If you aren't on Ravelry and would like to purchase one of my patterns, just leave me a comment on here or send me a message and we can work out getting the pattern to you until I can get them here on my blog.

With all that going on, I have really gotten the itch to start designing seriously again.  The first pattern I put out will probably be a hat that will coordinate with the fingerless mitts and scarf already published, and will offer them separately and also in an eBook on Ravelry.  I will put all my patterns here on my blog at some point as well once I figure all that out again.

I also have ideas in the works for a scarf and cowl that will match/coordinate, and a pair of socks, and a pair of mittens.  Mittens will probably be last because I want to knit a pair of mittens for myself first to make sure I understand the construction of full mittens as compared to fingerless mitts. Already have a pattern in mind for myself too...

Anyway, I will definitely post on here when I start testing of any of these patterns and also when they are released.  With all the ideas running in my head right now, I'll be putting patterns out through next spring on a regular basis (if I can keep up with everything!)

Off the Needles

Lots of knitting going on in the last few weeks.  Again, it makes me very happy to be knitting again, and now I have some FOs (finished objects) to show for it.

First, a test knit that I did for a designer on Ravelry, Helene Yates aka Ravenater (spiritofthewestdesigns.com/blog.html).  This is her newest design, Sunshine Cable Halter. I knit the size 2, and had a model from church for the pictures, and gave the top to her since I didn't have a little girl of my own to use it for.  I really enjoyed knitting it and it is a very cute and easy design.

Next is my Mojo Socks, this is the first project I started with when I picked up the needles again.  I have always loved knitting socks and couldn't wait to use this yarn for some fun rainbow socks.  The yarn is Knit Picks Felici in Rainbow in a plain vanilla pattern.

My Sockhead Hat by Kelly McClure aka bohoknits (bohoknits.blogspot.com) started slow, but once I got better needles, it went pretty fast and I got it finished last weekend as part of the Year of Stash Socks Finish-It-Up Labor Day weekend challenge. The yarn is Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sock in Aslan.  I love how it striped with this simple pattern.

Also finished as part of the YOSS challenge was my Interpolate shawl by Cindy Garland aka WPKnits (www.wpknits.com).  This is the first major 2 color project I've ever done and it was awesome.  Cindy has so many beautiful designs and I plan to make more of them in the future. Yarns used are Cherry Tree Hill Super Sock Select in Green Mountain Madness and Handmaiden Casbah Sock in SaltSpray. Finished measurements: 64"x29". Hopefully I can get a better picture soon to show the colors better.

That's pretty much it for FOs.  I'll do a separate post in a few days on other things I'm currently working on.

Back to knitting!

Knitmyworld and KMW Designs is back on track.  I took a break from knitting and designing because of many things going on in my personal life.  But I have picked up the needles once again and it has been great.  This blog is going to be under construction for a bit as I get everything back on track since for some reason I can't access my previous blog (knitmyworld.blogspot.com).   I plan to have sections for my designs that can be purchased and/or downloaded for free and hope to start adding to those shortly.  No idea how often I will post at this point, so stay tuned!
